Chouet Headland and Bunker in 3D

Chouet Headland and Bunker

Chouet Headland situated next to L’ancresse Common, at the north of Guernsey in the Parish of Vale, was heavily fortified during the German invasion in 1940. There remains a large German bunker at the most westerly point of the headland which is now a licensed explosives store and home to the island pistol shooting club. The bunker boarders the Guernsey Model Flying Club (GMFC) site, as well as a green waste tip and Ronez quarry.

Today, on top of the bunker resides a variety of masts, solar panels and equipment that formed part of a weather station, however, the bunker itself remains a firm reminder that Chouet was strategically important due to its location on the northern coast of the island, overlooking the sea and providing a vantage point for monitoring maritime activities.

The bunker itself is a concrete structure and overlooks Grand Havre.
